Practical, Bright & Modern Bathroom

Our client, Ruth, had been looking to renovate this bathroom in an apartment she was planning to rent out on Airbnb. After being disappointed with a previous experience elsewhere, she took to the internet to find some more inspiration and discovered Gardiner Haskins Interiors on Facebook. Intrigued, Ruth booked a free bathroom design appointment with our expert bathroom designer, Daisy Patto.
When Ruth visited the Bristol Bathroom Showroom she was initially impressed with the showroom, “It was well laid out and the premium look gave me the feeling I would get the result I was looking for here.”
During the initial design appointment and follow up communication Ruth was delighted with the can-do attitude of Daisy, “Daisy listened to what we were hoping to achieve, she spent a lot of time considering ideas we were putting forward and adding her own until we got to a fantastic design of the type and quality we were hoping for”
Before her visit, Ruth had already decided she wanted a free-standing bath for a luxury feel to the space with a separate shower to keep it practical for her visiting guests. Daisy opted for a Roper Rhodes Note free-standing bath in the design, complimented by brushed nickel brassware to enhance the premium look of the bath. The use of brushed nickel was also extended to the basin mixer tap and towel rail, creating a cohesive design.
Summing up her experience Ruth says,
“The results are amazing – our rather small dingy bathroom now looks bigger and a place to linger! I can’t recommend Daisy or Gardiner Haskins Interiors enough and will certainly come back for any other work in the future.”

FAQ
How can I make a bathroom feel brighter?
Creating a brighter bathroom often comes down to improving how light moves through the space. Lighter colour palettes, reflective surfaces, well-positioned mirrors and thoughtful lighting can all help the room feel more open and airy. Wall-hung furniture can also help expose more floor area, increasing the sense of space
Can changing the layout make a bathroom feel bigger?
Yes. Even without increasing the room’s footprint, repositioning key elements such as the shower, bath or vanity unit can dramatically improve flow. A more considered layout often helps the space feel less cramped and easier to move around day to day.
Are wall-hung bathroom units worth it?
Wall-hung units are popular because they help bathrooms feel lighter and more spacious by revealing more floor space. They also make cleaning easier and contribute to a cleaner, more streamlined overall look, particularly in contemporary bathrooms.
What colours work best in a modern bathroom?
Modern bathrooms often work well with soft neutrals, warm greys and lighter natural tones that help create a calm and balanced atmosphere. Layering texture through tiles, cabinetry and brassware can also add depth without making the space feel visually heavy.
How can bathroom storage reduce clutter?
Thoughtful storage helps keep everyday essentials organised and surfaces clearer. Vanity drawers, mirrored cabinets and integrated shelving can all support a more practical daily routine while helping the room feel calmer and more cohesive.
Can a practical bathroom still feel stylish?
Absolutely. The most successful bathrooms balance everyday usability with thoughtful design details. Durable materials, practical layouts and carefully chosen finishes can create a space that feels refined while still supporting busy daily routines.
Why work with a bathroom designer on a renovation?
A bathroom designer helps bring together layout planning, storage, materials and practical considerations into a cohesive design. This often helps avoid costly compromises and creates a space that feels carefully tailored to the way the room is used.
