Bed & Furniture Price Promise

At Gardiner Haskins Interiors we consistently offer our customers exceptional levels of customer service and a range of quality branded products. We work hard to ensure all our prices and services remain competitive.
In the unlikely event that you find the same item sold at a lower price locally and with the same service conditions let us know and we will try to match or even beat that price.

We will however only match prices on a like for like basis.
•    The price must apply to an identical product that is new and the same make model, size and colour
•    The item is sold with the same warranties, aftercare and delivery service.
•    A local competitor is within a 20-mile radius of the store

We believe that we can only provide outstanding customer service, product advice and aftercare by having physical stores where our experienced staff are on hand to assist.  For this reason, whilst we will always try, we may not always be able to price match some online retailers.

Our 200 Year History

Founded in 1825 as a small ironmongery, the business has grown into one of the city’s best-known interiors specialists. From the very beginning, its reputation was built on quality craftsmanship, dependable service, and close relationships with local customers - values that continue to define the company today.

Our bicentenary marks more than the passage of time; it celebrates two centuries of helping Bristol residents create comfortable, stylish homes.

The company was formally registered as Gardiner Sons & Co Ltd in 1893, having already traded for almost 70 years. Established in the 1820s as a blacksmith and ironmonger, Gardiners initially produced practical metal goods for the people of Bristol. As the business expanded through the Victorian era, it operated several large factories manufacturing everything from door handles to ornate iron gates for stately homes.

Among its most notable products were cast-iron kitchen ranges — the predecessors of today’s modern range cookers, which the company still supplies. One of these historic ranges can now be seen at Blaise Castle Museum in Bristol, where it was donated to the collection during the 1980s.

Gardiners’ reputation for precision and quality attracted distinguished customers. One of the most famous was Isambard Kingdom Brunel, who commissioned the company to create bespoke drawing instruments, including scale dividers made to his own design. Engraved with “Gardiners Bristol,” these tools are now preserved at the Brunel Institute beside the SS Great Britain.

In the early twentieth century, the company further diversified into large-scale metal fabrication. Its work included structural features for the entrance to the Festival of Britain and elements of the steel framework inside the iconic twin towers of the original Wembley (Empire) Stadium, built in 1923.

Through every chapter of its history, from ironmongery to interiors, Gardiner Haskins Interiors has remained rooted in craftsmanship, innovation, and service to the Bristol community.

FAQ

How do I choose the right furniture for my home?

The most successful interiors usually balance comfort, practicality and cohesion. When choosing furniture, it’s worth considering how each piece will work within the overall feel of the room, alongside factors such as layout, scale and everyday use. Materials, upholstery and storage can all influence how calm, functional and connected a space feels over time.

Can I try beds and sofas in your Bristol showroom?

Yes. Our Bristol showroom includes a wide selection of beds, mattresses, sofas and furniture displays, allowing customers to experience different styles, materials and comfort levels in person. Exploring furniture within room settings often helps make it easier to visualise how pieces may work within the home and support everyday living more naturally.

What should I consider when choosing a new bed or mattress?

Comfort preferences, sleeping position and room size all play an important role when selecting a new bed or mattress. Support levels, mattress tension and bed proportions can all affect how restful the bedroom feels day to day. It’s also worth considering how the bed works alongside surrounding furniture to help create a more balanced and relaxing environment overall.

Do you offer guidance when choosing furniture and beds?

Yes. Our experienced Bristol beds team can help guide you through different furniture, upholstery and bed options based on your space, style and practical requirements. Seeing materials, finishes and comfort levels in person often helps customers make more considered decisions while creating rooms that feel cohesive, comfortable and tailored to everyday living.
